The best thing about the JDM Expo isn’t just the cool cars; it’s all the fun contests and competitions! Stereo Sound Competition at 2PM rattled the windows of the nearby Marriott hotel. Later, the loudest exhaust 2-Step / Rev Battle saw flames shooting out of tailpipes to the roar of the crowd.

The fan-favourite Car Limbo competition is where Demaras Racing came to play. The 1992 Synthwave Subaru SVX isn’t very loud, and it doesn’t shoot flames. But the Air Ride Performance pneumatic suspension allows the car to get real low. Almost scrape the ground low.

The field wasn’t big, but a 1990 Honda Civic sedan was in the mix, as was a little girl in her white Power-Wheels toy SUV. Unfortunately, her battery pack was depleted, and she could only make one pass under the limbo stick.

The winner of the 2025 JDM Expo ‘Lowest of the Low’ competition was none other than Chris, the patriarch of the Demaras Racing family. He got the crowd going by rolling up with the air-springs fully inflated, then aired it out at the last second and slipped under the limbo stick, cruising to victory.

It wasn’t an Enduro Elite race win, or a Formula 1200 Championship. But Chris Demaras earned the title ‘Lowest of the Low’ and will proudly represent JDM and car culture.

  1. That was some real lowdown entertainment. Maybe that little girl in the white Power-Wheels toy SUV will grow up to drive a real car with an internal combustion engine after being humiliated by depleted batteries.

    1. I think her dad told us that to spare my ego! I wanted to win something so bad, since I lost out on both “Best Old School” and “Best Classic”.
