Who says doing good can’t come with personal perks as well as fulfilment? On Friday October 10, the culmination of the GEARHEADS GIVING BACK fundraiser took place at Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsport Park) with the prize winner getting to drive a Ferrari race car on the Driver Development Track.

For Chris and Daniel Demaras, the notion of spending a day at the race track, without getting behind the wheel of a sports car, didn’t seem right. So, for the third year in a row, the father and son enjoyed an end-of-season day of speed where there were no podiums or pole positions. Just some fun and the chance to drive dream cars in anger.

Big guy Chris who wanted the loudest, brashest car on the roster. That could only be the Dodge Viper with it’s front mounted V10 engine. Such an American beast, the Viper is powered by a naturally-aspirated, 512 cubic inch (8.4 L) 20-valve engine pumping out 645 HP. Mated to a 6-speed, manual transmission, surprisingly few drivers selected the green monster.

Big thanks to GTA Exotics for donating the prize for the GEARHEADS GIVING BACK, TOO fundraiser for SickKids Hospital, and the unending support of CSCS Racing for supporting Demaras Racing’s charity initiatives.

  1. It is just amazing when different segments of society get together to help those in need. Congratulations to Demaras race team and all those involved.
And thanks for sharing your experience driving that Green Beast.

    1. Rubinho it’s always interesting to see which friends/ associates / sponsors / supporters will jump on a charity event like this one. Stu, owner of GTA Exotics, was a true gentleman and made the event a success.

And getting to have fun too (with our raffle winner) was a blast!
