Being an automotive enthusiast, spending every weekend at the race track for the past decade, one crosses paths with a variety of people.
Some are friends of convenience; racing rivals with whom there is no real personal relationship with after the finish line. But pay close attention, and some former racing rivals still come out to watch your races even when you change racing disciplines. Those are the good guys. They actually care and one must value those relationships.

Racing teams are tricky , because they are business relationships. Coaches and race engineers may be very friendly to you (or your kid) simply because you pay them to be. It’s easy to be fooled into thinking that relationships based on money are actually friendships. They rarely are; not never just rarely.

During our first year racing, we met a dad who ran a team entirely around a superstar driver; his oldest son. One day the old man said that win or lose, he was the luckiest guy in the world, because he got to spend weekends with his only son, who was already a grown man. How lucky. Not many families still spend every weekend together after those teenage years.

The relationship with family has had the biggest impact on all our lives in the Demaras Racing team. We support one another, regardless of the results. We only want to see family members improve, and even outshine us, with no hint of jealousy. We are each other’s biggest fans because of love for one another. Nothing more nothing less.

A strong family is the relationship with the most positive impact on one’s life.
Seems you have a happy one.
Yup. Happy to have a close family, and we find a way to make it work.
That is what love is all about.
