A predecessor of the Subaru Impreza, the Subaru Leone Wagon Subaru was a tough, compact station wagon with a turbocharged boxer engine, all-wheel-drive, and either a manual or automatic transmission. While never exceptionally popular, it set the blueprint for Subaru models in North America for decades to come.
This 1989 commercial was called “USA Ski Team is Never Late” started airing in February, and often appeared during broadcasts of ABC’s Wide World of Sports. Is it sexist by today’s standards? Who knows. But it certainly is funny, and had charm rather than the ‘focus group’ nonsense advertisers put out today.
