In Canada, young drivers are encouraged to get their license at 16. After decades of driving, motorists must submit to re-testing at 80. As if all those years behind the wheel counted for nothing?
Ontario Provincial Police took to social media recently to recognize a senior citizen who’s still putting the pedal to the metal. Seems the OPP observed him driving 151 km/h in a 90 km/h zone! What a great moment for the 70-year-old resident of Sturgeon Falls to be caught ‘stunt driving’. Probably made him feel like a teenager again when they busted him doing 61 km/h over the limit on Highway 17 west of North Bay.

Making the story even more laughable, when police stopped the overgrown teenager, they discovered an unsealed bag of weed in the passenger’s seat… just like a stupid kid! He has subsequently been charged with stunt driving under the MOMS Act and with driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available. License suspended, car impounded, traffic court scheduled, but golly will this senior have a great story to tell at bingo.
Road safety is everybody’s responsibility, and there’s more than just young drivers doing stupid things on the highway.
He was probably using the weed to treat his glaucoma, which is why he didn’t see the speed limit signs.
And that’s exactly what he’ll say in court.
