Rather than straight translations, the ‘Fast & Furious’ movies have different names in Japan. They’re called ‘Wild Speed’ ostensibly to better reflect the action-packed, high-octane, movies. Japanese releases tend to use descriptive, mission-based names for the movies, like ‘Wild Speed 7: Sky Mission‘ to appeal to Japanese moviegoers.

The bizarre naming convention was not used for Sung Kang’s upcoming movie ‘Drifter‘ which in Japanese is just “「ドリフター」which is just the word drifter, but pronounced Dorifutā.
