Do you ever dream of going on a big shopping spree, filling your garage with sports cars and luxury vehicles? Of course you do! So it’s kind of hard to criticize a Florida waitress who’s now facing a smorgasbord of felonies over an 10-car splurge.

Over an eight day period in October 2023, the waitress’ totally legitimate income of $180,000 per month allowed her to drive off with sportscars like a 2019 BMW i8 and a 2023 Corvette Stingray, a luxurious 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560, family-haulers including a 2023 Toyota Highlander XLE, a 2022 Mazda CX-9, a 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy, a 2024 Kia Telluride, plus three Harley Davidson motorcycles for weekend riding.

Sadly, it was too good to be true. The server wasn’t really making big money. She was part of a scam called a ‘credit bust out’ (see ‘The Sopranos’ season 2, episode 10 for deetails). She’s now charged with organized fraud, grand theft, and vehicle-related fraud. An individual poses as a heavy-hitter with forged financials, allowing them to get credit for big purchases. Dealership insiders helped push through the loans, circumventing their own lending rules, and by the time all of these expensive vehicle purchases hit the credit bureau, the game was up.

The Floridian food-service worker was the face of the operation, was arrested and held on $26,000 bond while police investigate others involved in the scam. The sad part is the server probably never even got to drive the cars she scammed. Her joyride has ended in jail with a date with the justice systems.
