Just when it seemed the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise might finally run out of gas, Vin Diesel appeared at NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation in New York to announce that Peacock is launching TV shows from the ‘Fast & Furious’ universe. At the industry event, Diesel said fans have wanted more for the past decade—more legacy characters, more backstories, more expansion into television.

Don’t worry—he’s keeping it in the family. NBCUniversal includes the NBC television network, its Peacock streaming service, and Universal Pictures. For anyone rolling their eyes at yet another F&F vehicle, remember that the series has earned more than $7 billion in worldwide box office receipts, not to mention all the ancillary merchandise tie ins. The ‘Fast & Furious’ films are Universal Pictures’ most profitable series.

Apparently eleven movies, a spinoff, and an existential impact on car culture were just the appetizer.

The upcoming series will come from Universal Television, with Diesel executive producing alongside several familiar franchise names. As for the plot? The official tagline is reportedly “More to come…”. So yes, the F&F universe is growing again. Maybe a TV show, or if Diesel is to be believed, four TV shows! Maybe by one show he means it becomes four when Universal adds in a prequel and a two-part finale.

The rumoured spinoff sequel ‘F&F Presents: Hobbs & Reyes’ appears to have gone quiet. Instead, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will return to the main series for ‘Fast Forever’ which is scheduled for theatrical release in March 2028. To mark the series 25th anniversary, Universal Studios Hollywood theme park is set to open an F&F rollercoaster called ‘Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’ this summer. Plus there’s Sung Kang’s independent picture called ‘Drifter‘ coming out this summer. And even though it’s not part of the F&F universe, Han is family.

Looks like there’s plenty of fuel left in the tank.
