Episode 1 works as a prequel to The Fast and the Furious, showing how L.A. cop Brian O’Conner became the undercover street racer known as Brian Earl Spilner.
This is not an official Universal production. It is a free fan project on YouTube, and the creator may be relying on the idea that it is transformative, non-commercial fan art. But there is no pretending this exists outside Universal’s garage. Brian, Hector, the FBI agents, and the entire Fast & Furious world are intellectual property owned by Universal Pictures.
