When you thought you heard the worst news stories about drivers street racing on roads emptied by the virus outbreak, the increase in stunt driving charges and extreme speeds in residential areas … someone comes along to top all the others.

An Ontario driver was caught doing 271 km/h on a public highway.

The Challenger Hellcat was stopped by the OPP on Hwy 417 near the Ontario-Quebec border. During the top-speed test, the rear tire exploded, tearing apart the rear bumper.

Needless to say, the vehicle was impounded, the driver’s license was suspended and a stunt driving charge was laid. There seems to be no end to the level of dangerous driving motorists are displaying during while roads are nearly abandoned due to the virus pandemic.
