Less than two weeks after the Lucky Dog track day, Daniel and Chris are back at C.T.M.P. / Mosport for another session. This time, the well-heeled DriveTeq club was presenting holding a track day. Alfa Romeos, Ferraris, a lot of Porsches were par for the course. There were even two full-on NASCAR trucks circulating. Oh yeah…and only one Miata.

Daniel got a kick out of Chris dressed in full Nomex, but with temperatures below 10° in the morning, the three-layer suit provided some real warmth.

Coach Venditti saw real improvements this time out, and the lap times showed it. For Chris, the learning curve has been steeper. A little rattled by Mosport’s elevation change the first time on the track, Chris’ smooth shifting helped hide some shortcomings. It’s a process.

Daniel steadily improved as the day progressed, and enjoyed a long, un-interrupted run during the ‘happy hour’ session which ended the day. On track with Intermediate and Advanced level drivers, it was a little disconcerting when Martella Racing’s Audi RS3 LMS TCR screams past on the Andretti Straight. But it is amazing how well the Miata closes the gap to Mustangs and Camaros in the corner complexes.

Back to the Racing Simulator with Venditti at HIP Motorsports this weekend, jumping back in a virtual Formula Vee before returning again to C.T.M.P. for another pre-season practice session in the Mazda.
