With the weekend’s race at CTMP wrapped up early, and weather still warm, it was the perfect opportunity to go to the drive-in this weekend. When I was a kid, my family would go to the local “400 Drive In” up on Hwy 7, and I’m pretty sure we saw Top Gun there in 1986.

As soon as you pull into the drive-in theatre, and see all the retro rides, you know you’re in the right place. It’s like a sunset car show.

Nowadays, I have to drive my family out to Oakville for the same experience. The slogan for the 5 Drive-In is “Movies are Bigger and Better Under the Stars!” so, what better place to watch Maverick shoot down those evil Russian planes. See? Like 1986 all over again!

The place was packed. Even now, four months after Top Gun came out, every spot in the drive-in theatre was full. Ended up parking my ‘monster truck‘ in the back row, right by the pot-heads and the snack bar.

I don’t know if you call it old-fashioned, classic, or Americana, but the drive-in is a unique experience.
