Ferrari and Subaru are definitely the two brands most loved by Demaras Racing. The Subaru WRX is the attainable all-season performance car, while the Ferrari represents the pinnacle of the automotive world. But they’re on opposite sides of the spectrum, and rarely cross paths.

But every once in a while, a true lunatic appears on the car scene. For example, the car below is owned by Sam Albert, who’s into rally racing. Like any racer, Sam wanted more power, and the rulebook in the North American Rally Cup series he competes in allows naturally-aspirated engines below 4.5 L of displacement. So Sam did the only logical thing; swap out the 2.5 L boxer from the Subaru and drop in a 4.3 L Ferrari V8 from the California.

The Ferrari engine makes 453 HP and 358 lb.ft. of torque. The smoother and more linear power delivery of the V8 should make for a more enjoyable drive, a performance improvement, and sound amazing in the forest rally stages.
