As a kid growing up in Toronto in the 1980s, we’d see a lot of low-budget commercials on CityTV during their late-night broadcast. After 11:30 pm they dhowed R-Rated movies, and that’s what teenagers watched!

The best of the best was car customizing shop Tint King with their ‘Look Hot and Be Cool’ commercial and its incredibly catchy theme song. Take a close look and you’ll see the hero’s car is actually transformed into the 1966 Batmobile by George Barris!
There’s a slightly older commercial from 1986 that trumpets the benefits of tinted windows, louvres and sun roofs…but it hasn’t aged well in the #MeToo era.
Thank you to RETRONTARIO for preserving Ontario’s pop-culture history by uploading these commercials to their YouTube channel.
