Back in the day, the Toronto Subaru Club was the coolest thing around. They’d have big shows like Spring Fling and the end of season HyperMeet at the Subaru Canada headquarters in Mississauga. But it’s been nearly four years since they had an event.

There’s still weekly meet-ups. In parking lots around the GTA on Friday nights, you can find the World Rally Blue army gathered.

At this meet in Newmarket there were some really cool machines, including a recently imported Legacy GT (right hand drive) and a rally-inspired GG bugeye wagon with over-sized mudflaps and BBS wheels.

The star of the show was a first-gen Forester on air-bags. It had a pink strobe light, racing seats, LED underglow and two booster seats in the back. A proper family car.

The real reason Daniel and I went to the car meet wasn’t to show off the WRX and the SVX, though (but that part was fun).

We went to the show to meet up with our friend Rubens Jr., who authors the website ‘The Classic Machines‘. Our Brazilian Brother has been a guest writer on Demaras Racing’s website several times, and he even helped Daniel’s writing get published on VW website called AUTOentusiastas last year (in Portuguese, no less) with his story of racing in the Canadian Formula 1200 Championship. Rubens Jr. even published an article called ‘A Very Special Subaru‘. How cool!

Spending so many weekends each summer at the race track doesn’t allow us much time to go to car shows. I can’t even remember the last time! But this one … it was special.

  1. Hey, Chris. It was awesome to finally meet you guys in person and of course, to take the SVX for a spin.
I hope I will have more opportunities to go to Mosport next season and see Daniel racing.
