This weekend is the Rally of the Tall Pines in Bancroft, Ontario. It’s the penultimate round of the Canadian Rally Championship, and very much unexpectedly Crazy Leo is making a retun to the event for the first time since 2019.
As these shots from GoFast Photography show, this event has really been dominated by Subarus over the past few years.

That’s what makes the Crazy Leo’s announcement ever crazier. Not only is it his first top-level rally since the 2019 Tall Pines, but this time he’ll be driving a Ford!
Yup! A front-wheel drive, 100 HP, 2000 Ford Focus instead of ‘Disaster’ his beloved his Subaru WRX STi which does not meet the current regulations.
The Rally of Tall Pines is my home race and I always want to participate in it. This year will be a whole different story from all of my previous years. This will be a low-key race with minimum budget, without a professionl service crew at the event, in a very affordable FWD Ford Focus rally car, which we bought for Race Lab students, and with my friend co-driving.
In the spirit of sharing the passion, I’ll let you see our preparation (which I talked Can-Jam Motorsports to help with), disclose the budget (so that you get an idea of what something like this costs), and of course – share emotions from the event.
Experience the Impossible. Stay tuned.
‘Crazy’ Leo
