The only thing worse than being thrown into a Turkish prison is watching the cops drive around in your Bentley. That’s the tough lesson the leader of the Comanchero Motorcycle Club learned just after Christmas. Despite the name, the ‘motorcycle gang’ is actually an international drug cartel who’s leader was arrested last month, charged with drug smuggling and money laundering.
The gangster’s fleet of 23 cars, including a Ferrari 488 GTB, a Bentley Continental and a Porsche Taycan Turbo, have been repurposed as police vehicles complete with sirens and flashing lights. While this is a PR dream for local politicians, it will be a nightmare to maintain such a wide variety of vehicles. The assumption is that the Turkish government didn’t want to auction off the seized cars, as they could be bought back by the same gang…just like that old Flitstone’s episode. File this one under ‘crime doesn’t pay’.
