Racers can share improvements and celebrate victories via social media, It allows friends to experience the highs and lows of climbing the motor racing ladder. Competing in Formula 1200, Time Attack and Stock-Car racing doesn’t allow much time for drivers like Daniel Demaras to visit the old kart racing track where he got his start as a kid, but social media is perfect for seeing how old rivals’ seasons are going.

Racers can also use social media for good causes.

Being a race car driver brings exposure. Drivers get their picture in magazines and thousands of people watch the races. The trick is not to be boastful, but to use the publicity for good. Each year, Demaras Racing has partnered up with sponsors to host charity events such as Racing to End Alzheimer’s. These ‘charity races’ have brought in thousands in donation, all by word of mouth, and social media.

As a small family-run team, there is no budget for special events. We simply organize the event, ask partners to donate prizes, and advertise the opportunity to win a ride in a race car. By using social media to advertise these events over the years, we’ve been able to use both notoriety and social media for good.
