Who Wouldn’t Want to be a Monster Truck Driver?

Astronaut, firefighter, detective… everyone has a childhood ‘dream job’. Monster truck driver has to be right up at the top of the list too.

As a kid, just the sight of a monster truck is shocking. They’re some of the most extreme machines on the planet at more than 10′ tall and 1,500 HP from supercharged engines. These vehicles can jump 40′ in the air and flip upside-down without the driver getting hurt. Plus, what kid wouldn’t want to crush cars with those massive tires.

Secretly, everyone wants to be a monster truck driver. Who hasn’t been stuck in traffic, dreaming of just driving over the Tesla that just cut you off. Heck, even Formula 1 drivers like Yuki Tsunoda jump at the chance to get behind the wheel of one of these machines.

This weekend at the First Ontario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario (an hour outside of Toronto) the monster trucks are coming to town to put on a couple of shows. Sunday is the last event, so surely there will be plenty of destruction to entertain the crowd.

We’re hoping to see a ‘driver wanted’ job ad on the windshield of one of the trucks. Because who wouldn’t want to be a monster truck driver.

One of the trucks at the Monster Jam show this weekend is Stone Crusher, owned by a fellow from North Carolina named Steve Simms. He ran a successful granite countertop business and back in 2005 trades free countertops for an appearance at his son’s 12th birthday party by ‘Grave Digger’ the most famous monster truck in the universe. One year later, Simms bought his own truck and by 2007 was competing at Monster Jam shows around North America.

Who says dreams can’t come true?
