What’s a gearhead to do on a long weekend away from the race track? Go to the drive-in, of course!
Way back in 1955, the North York Drive-In was opened just north of Newmarket, Ontario in the town of Sharon, It remained a family-run business for more than 50 years.

The very original looking drive-in can handle over 900 cars at its three screens. The big Screen 1 located against Mt. Albert Rd is actually the original screen tower. The facility has been improved and changed over the years including a big new concession building was built behind the old snack bar.

In 2012 the original owners closed the theatre as they could not afford to upgrade to digital movie projection, but in 2013 it was reopened as the Stardust Drive-In by new owners Premiere Theatres which also owns the 5 Drive In in Oakville and the Starlite Drive in Theatre in Hamilton.

Before the feature attraction started, the Stardust showed clips of ‘2 Fast 2 Furious‘ to make the gearheads in the audience smile. There were even Jeopardy-style questions about the classic on screen. How cool to see F&F flicks at this old school drive in, especially one with Paul Walker in it.
But the big movie on Screen 1 was ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘ which has been bringing in record box-office receipts this summer. All the rows at the drive-in were packed just like the good old days.
