At the F1 Exhibition many helmets worn by World Champions were on display, including Nico Rosberg (2016), Keke Rosberg (1982) and Jenson Button (2009). These stunning looking brain buckets inspired young Daniel Demaras to create his own F1-inspired helmet design.

The hi-viz Bell Racing helmet which Daniel wears is strikingly similar to Jenson Button’s helmet during his season at Brawn GP. A white crown, outlined in black, really stands out against the yellow background.

Daniel’s helmet is also inspired by Nico Rosberg’s early lids. Similar colour scheme and crown, but Nico used a ‘masked off’ area around the visor, which Daniel incorporated, albeit in black.

For Chris, it made sense to copy from the best; Nico’s World Champion father Keke Rosberg. The basic shapes that make up Keke’s helmet were used for Chris’ too, but with changes to the colours. A white crown broken up by blue rectangular boxes with radiused corners were consistent on Keke’s helmets, Chris made the hi-vis yellow of the Demaras Racing team the base colour but maintained the blue design elements from Rosberg.

There’s a strong family resemblance between the two Demaras Racing driver helmets, but they re both totally unique in their own right.

Chris retro-looking helmet uses more traditional elements, nd even bears a similarity to Didier Pironi’s famous blue-and-white Gitanes Cigarettes livery helmet. Daniel’s modern-looking lid is sharp, angular and looks fast standing still.

  1. Your posts are always so intriguing. You had a helmet. Does that mean you raced before Daniel? I’m curious about where one gets a custom helmet and what that process is. Also you are right that Daniel’s helmet looks fast just sitting there!
