Gosh… Will Power is getting so close to the IndyCar Championship this season. He’s still quite a few points behind the leader (No. 10 Alex Palou) and last week’s disastrous ending to the race in St. Louis didn’t help matters.
But this past Sunday, Power fought to a decisive win at the BITNILE Grand Prix of Portland.

Will Power is the greatest qualifier in American open-wheel racing history, but he only managed P2 for the start. Didn’t matter; he aggressively made the pass for the lead at Turn 1 on Lap1 and never looked back.
It was great seeing our favourite driver up there on the top step of the podium, his third win this year, even if he did get sprayed in the groin with ice-cold champagne.

This was a team victory. The strategy from Team Penske was to save a set of ‘sticker’ new tires for the last stint. t was a competitive advantage that nobody could match. Power lead over 100 laps and fended off all rivals to take the 44th win of his career!

Keep in mind that Will Power is 43-years-old and in his 18th year of American open-wheel racing (Champ Car & IndyCar) so it’s safe to say he is in the twilight of his career. But he’s performing so well, he actually has a shot at the championship.
Keep going, Will. Three more races until the end of the season!
