Something about those words ‘season closer‘ makes every gearhead scramble to get their vehicle polished up for one more car show. For some, it’s a challenge just to get their car running to make it to their first and only show of 2024.

Markham Meets posted on Instagram that Monday, October 21st would be the end of the season.

The parking lot was absolutely rammed! Hundreds of cars filled every spot with many double-parked in laneways. By 8PM the lot was so full, some guys had to drive backwards down the lanes when they came bumper to bumper with another car looking for somewhere to park and chill.

As always, the diversity was incredible; lowriders on hydraulics, CSCS time attack cars, plus a retro Celica and Supra from the 80s that looked fresh from the Oblivion VI show this summer. Underglow on BMWs, Mercedes and Audis gave the EDM cars vintage vibe, but these modern LED lights are so much better than the neon tubes that gearheads used to install under their Plymouth Neons.

We shot some random video of cars at the show, and spliced it together with footage of the long drive home. Check out the first minute of the video (below) to feel the vibe.

As usual, the Subaru community made up a huge part of the event. There was a race-ready WRX STi, an incredible yellow Bugeye on air with massive fender flares, plus one very creative BRZ with evil fangs and fake Halloween blood splattered on the hood.

Friend-of-the-family Ameen brought his pearl-white and gloss-black Subaru SVX to the show and parked it next to our Dark Teal Metallic ’92 SVX; how many people commented they’d never seen one of these cars in real life. Now we had a pair side by side; how cool.

While this ends the Markham Meets for the season, surely there’ll be a more shows before it snows.

    1. Tell me about it, eh? It looks so COOL!

When I was 16, neon underglow was a trend in the car scene. Guys would put a three fluorescent lights under their cars. One on each side, one up front. You could only pick one colour, but if it was foggy or rainy out, the glow looked so eerie.

But everyone installed them badly and you could actually see the blubs (very bad…you just want the ‘glow’) and of course if you went over a speed bump too quick, goodbye glass bulb!

But this LED stuff is super cheap, available at Pep Boys, and cannot be broken. And tre colour combinations are endless!

Golly Susan, I think you should do it!
