The No. 12 Can-Jam Motorsports F1200 car was the most recognizable entry in the Canadian Formula 1200 Championship this season. It’s iconic livery drew attention at CSCS events. Everyone wanted to drive the F1200 car, and three ‘Gearheads Giving Back’ raffle winners Alan, Troy and Allen ‘LudeboyJR‘ got their shot.
Organizing a charity fundraiser felt fulfilling for Daniel, but watching other guys drive his race car was no fun. Luckily Demaras brought his Subaru WRX to the track. With a new EJ257 engine plus STi parts (turbocharger, intercooler, etc.) the Bugeye is now quicker than the day it left factory in Japan. A perfect track-day car.
The Bugeye WRX is painted in iconic World Rally Blue just like the Subaru WRC team utilized. Heading out on track, Daniel aimed to turn some quick laps, catch the F1200 car, and immortalize the moment with a picture of his road car and race car side-by-side on the front straight at Toronto Motorsports Park.
Joining them on track was a Subaru 2023 BRZ time-attack car with the same livery as the F1200, which can just be made out in the background of the main photo, below. So cool.
The ‘Gearheads Giving Back’ fundraiser turned out to be a huge success. The team raised funds and raised awareness for SickKids Hospital, plus the raffle winners had a great time.
Even team boss Bill Vallis looked relaxed, knowing that the F1200 would next be completely taken apart and rebuilt over the winter off-season. No worries if a driver locked up and smoked the tires. Everything will be brand new for the 2025 season, including Vallis’ baseball hat…which blew away on track.
The WRX spends most of its time restrained by the speed limits of Toronto’s crowded streets, and you could hear the tires squealing in delight as they got to be pushed for the first time in too long. The drivers had a good time as well, as they went for the thrill of a lifetime in an open wheel race car around Toronto Motorsports Park.

I got the scanned images. It’s actually really interesting how many of those ‘futuristic’ ideas have made it to modern cars.

-lap belt & shoulder belt
-raised seat back (or what we hall a head rest) to prevent wiplash

We just haven’t gotten the self-driving the way that GM envisioned in, built into the roads like a rail.
