Keanu Reeves is one of Canada’s shining stars; a local boy who made it on the international stage. Aside from iconic rolls as Neo in ‘The Matrix‘ and John Wick in the eponymous film series, Reeves is also a gearhead. He won the Toyota Pro/Celebrity race at the Long Beach Grand Prix in 2009, raced as a ‘pro’ in the 2010 race, and co-founded the ARCH Motorcycle Co in 2011.

In this just-released video, Keanu Reeves pursues his dream of racing at the Indianapolis Speedway in the last round of the 2024 Toyota GR Cup season. John Wick himself navigates the adrenaline-fueled world of motorsports, embracing challenges and rookie mistakes in this unforgettable racing journey.

Did Neo win? Of course not! He jumped into a race car in the last round of the season, against younger, faster competitors who had all year to get used to the machine. But as Morpheus said, there is no shame in failing, there is only shame in not trying.

      1. Agreed. There is no shame in failing, there’s only shame in not trying. But when you’re a famous movie star, maybe you’re not accustomed to getting your ass kicked. Good on him for putting his ego aside.

  1. That was cool. Well made video too. I think he said something about mistakes can’t be fixed immediately. you have to catch them on the next lap. seems like that’s a good analogy for life. can’t always fix something right away but when you come back to a similar spot, maybe you do it differently. Something about the cadence of keanu’s speech reminded me of Dave Matthews. Is Dave Canadian?

    1. Like that Reeves fellow said, all you can do is figure out what you messed up, and try to get it right next time around. Most of my lessons about life were picked up at the race track.

When we first started racing karts, I remember thinking about sexism and racism. Once the helmet and race suit goes on, you cannot tell black from white, female from male. We competed against each other, we showed aggression, but it was never because of any prejudice. I didn’t race the ladies any gentler. Everyone is treated the same.

    1. You heard that part too, huh? I heard him say 2026. At first I thought it was a mistake… then I realized this guy has movie shoots booked years in advance.

I look forward to seeing him at the track again.
