When Jaguar first displayed their futuristic concept Type 00 in December, they became the laughing stock of the automotive world. Few were impressed with Jaguar’s new design language. Far from beautiful and elegant, the Jag is chunky, blocky and frankly, looks like a lo-rez computer generated models.

Last week, the Jaguar was seen moving under its own power on the streets of Paris during a fashion event. The car looks even weirder in reality than in the initial renderings. Jaguar calls this colour French Ultramarine, and the matte paint has an almost light-absorbing quality, which hides much of the exterior detail.

Don’t be fooled. This isn’t a production car, just a concept. It still doesn’t have a rear windshield, but Jaguar has revealed that the retractable panel actually hides a small trunk.

The Type 00 has a cartoonish appearance and distorted proportions. But its queer shape cried for attention, and maybe that’s the whole point of this vehicle.

This seems to be Jaguar’s version of the Cybertruck, from a design perspective. Polarizing, extreme, and not beautiful by conventional standards. It’s the first time anyone in the automotive world has talked about Jaguar in years, let alone snapped pictures of it at a fashion show.

    1. Ugly, disproportionate, and that flat blue paint is just weird.

I always thought of Jaguars as refined, elegant, gentleman’s GT cars. I don’t know what this Type 00 is… but I think they intentionally made it ugly for shock value.

      1. Exactly. It looks like it’s been digitally added to the Paris fashion show. Amazing how much light reflexivity (if that is a word) messes with our perception.
