Over her 20+ year racing career, Katherine Legge has earned many fans thanks to her willingness to attempt different disciplines.

Originally an open-wheel racer, she was the first woman to ever win a race in the Formula Atlantic development series. She then stepped up the IndyCar where she’s competed in the Indianapolis 500 four times. She’s won races in IMSA sportscar series, and this year even raced on NASCAR ovals.

Katherine’s long affiliation with HRC – Honda Racing Corp. has opened several doors for her. This year she was one of six women attempting the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. the annual race to the summit, covering 12.4 miles (19.99 km) with 156 turns ascending 4,720 feet (1,440 m) from start to finish. Legge’s goal was to set the front-wheel drive record in an Acura Integra Type S DE5 which normally races in the SRO Americas road racing series.

The current record of 10m 48.094s was set in 2018 by Pike’s Peak veteran racer and Acura engineer Nick Robinson, and Legge almost beat it last year in her rookie run. But on Sunday mother nature had different plans for Katherine this year; undriveable weather conditions on the upper section of the mountain cut runs short of the 12.4 mile marker. Katherine Legge was on record breaking pace, but will have to return in 2026 to make another attempt.
