Here’s a cute story out of the Belgian Grand Prix this past weekend.

Before this weekends race, 20-year-old F1 rookie racer Ollie Bearman went on a family vacation to the seaside town of Varberg, Sweden. Like any kid, he was excited to find a go-kart track next to the hotel they were staying in. Not some high-end K1 Speed type of place. Just one of those old-school outdoor tracks that smell of gasoline and chamomile flowers.

A family member joked to Oliver that he should try to break the track record, written on a chalk board for all the world to see. The crazy competitor spent the next three days determined to set a new mark. He took bodywork off the kart for weight savings, cooled the engine with a leaf blower (who doesn’t bring one of those on a vacation to Sweden) and siphoned gas from the kart leaving him just enough for a single fast lap. Finally, young Bearman set the new lap record of 28.97 seconds at the now-famous Varbergs Gokart.

Bearman, an F1 driver, let his obsession ruin a family holiday.

This weekend, Oliver Bearman was at the grand prix circuit of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, qualifying his Ferrari-powered Haas VF-25 Formula 1 car in 7th place for the sprint race. Meanwhile, back at Varbergs Gokart the track began advertising their challenge to ‘beat an F1 driver’s lap time‘ and it took only days for local boy Elton Zevenwacht to beat Ollie’s mark by 0.02 seconds.

Time to ruin another vacation!

    1. And such a cute boy!

I am a very straight, married man. But even I can see that Bearman has the most lovely eyes. Looks like he’s wearing eye polish or that maskara stuff.

    1. 100% for sure. One of the big racing websites even tracked him down and did an article on him. Looks so smug, but I’m sure the cameraman made him do it.. like “Yo, I beat the F1 driver”

By the way Dawg, why do all your comments get flagged for ‘approval’? Anyone else who comments on Demaras.com just magically appears. Except the scammers… and you. I wonder why?

      1. I have no clue, all the comments over here have to be approved before they show up so as to avoid the scammers. Promise I am not trying to scam you.

      2. Ha… you seem like a harmless ‘bot’ so here’s my credit card number up front:
