Bucky Lasek is a professional skateboarder, a character in Tony Hawk’s ‘Pro Skater‘ video games, and rallycross driver for Subaru Rally Team USA.

He’s also a Subaru enthusiast whose YouTube channel BuckYeah!let viewers follow along as he swapped an EJ22 into an 1984 Subaru Brat, and built an $800 GC8 Subaru Impreza into a widebody, STI swapped monster.

Ever the family man, Bucky has found a cool car for his cool daughter Tenzin. In the video below Bucky explains how he bought one, then two, and now a third Subaru SVX. The last one is really nice, and will be the basis of a custom build for his kid! Like Bucky says “I Don’t Think I Have a Problem; I Know It!”

The blurb from the 5-minute YouTube video reads:

“Bucky finds himself in a very familiar situation and his only way out is acquiring more Subaru’s. Bucky’s youngest daughter Tenzin is in need of a plan B car project that will satisfy her requirements as a new driver. His answer is a 1992 Subaru SVX and Tenzin is super stoked on its potential.”

Bucky’s build for the Subaru Brat lasted 25 episodes, so this latest Subaru transformation might take a couple months. But as fellow SVX enthusiasts at Demaras Racing, we’ll be watching along every step of the way.

It’ll be interesting to see how many members of the SVX enthusiast community in Canada and the States reach out to Bucky to help him with details about these obscure cars.

  1. Very Bratty. Nice to see his daughter working on the Brat. Reminded me of how my daughter used to work on cars with my dad. When our daughter was 17 and wanted to get her driver’s license, the condition was that she had to get our 1966 VW Beetle running and learn to drive it first. The Beetle had sat for years. She worked on the Beetle while her grandpa supervised, got it running, and learned to drive it on our private road.

    1. That Subaru Brat and a bunch of other Bucky Lasek cars were at Subiefest in California this weekend, and they look better than new.

Despite the focus of this website, I’ve never been a big fan of working on cars. I like the search for rare parts, customizing, and especially driving. But that’s OK because my mechanic says the world needs people like me.

Thanks for sharing that story about your daughter, your father, and the Beetle. Seems like a really smart idea to teach the kid basic mechanical tasks to help keep her car on the road and not be a damsel in distress.

By comparison, my soon-to-be 16 year old daughter is being forced to get her license. Has no interest in cars or driving. Makes me feel like I failed as a father.
