Road racing is a rich person’s pursuit. Spend a weekend at the track and you’ll quickly realize how expensive it is. A top-team F1600 rental can be over $8,000 for the weekend, plus the cost of tires. Racing in a Radical can set you back $20,000 for the weekend plus a $3,000 race entry fees.

Fortunately, there are alternatives for those born without a silver spoon.

Grassroots road racing series in the US began with ChampCar Endurance Series, which allowed race prepared sports cars like Miatas and Mustangs to compete evenly through it’s ‘balance of performance’ rules. Other series like Lucky Dog Racing offered competitive, wheel-to-wheel racing with simplified rulesets.

In Canada there is Enduro Elite a top-tier motorsport series accessible to anyone, without the need for a special license or a trust fund.

The series organizes 5 races over the course of the season. These are weekend-long events, each day consisting of an 8-hour endurance race, usually split between 4 drivers per car. 16 hours of wheel-to-wheel action per weekend makes it an incredible value and plenty of seat time.

For several yers, the series operated under the Lucky Dog Racing Canada banner, later shortened to LDRC. The name and cute doggie logo didn’t do veteran race organizer Chuck Carvalho any favours. He’s created a professional-level racing environment without the professional level budget, but the series identity didn’t reflect that. The newly christened Enduro Elite moniker says it all. Elite level drivers, honing their skills as a team, one endurance race weekend at a time.

Teams competing in Enduro Elite in 2025 include DriveTeq, son of Vallis Motor Sport, and veteran road racer Russ Bond’s team Sport Cup FLS. The next round is July 5th & 6th at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (the Grand Prix circuit at Mosport).

WARNING: Wheel-to-Wheel endurance racing
is a highly addictive team sport
and should only be attempted
under the supervision of
Enduro Elite.
