In another one of their fantastic publicity stunts F1 Sponsor ‘Quadrant’ set up a go-kart race where Haas F1 driver Oliver Bearman would attempt to carve through a group of 50 amateur kart racers. These competitors weren’t even true amateur racers; mostly just YouTube content creators who could share the event with their followers.
As expected the race was a crash-fest. From lap 1, the amateurs spun, went off track, wrecked and blocked Ollie like it was the last lap of Monaco. The prize wasn’t even a big deal—just £1,000 to the last amateur to be overtaken by the F1 pilot.
Not entirely sure what Quadrant does, but the produced a similar video with Ollie Bearman whipping amateur kart racers last year, while in disguise as an old-timer with grey hair and wrinkles.
