To those of us who feel betrayed by the red team, for ditching Carlos Sainz in favour of that has been Lewis Hamilton, the announcement that No. 55 has signed with the resurgent Williams Racing finally gives us a new team to cheer for.

Carlos Sainz has been the most important piece of the F1 driver market puzzle for months now. A top-tier driver who lost his seat for the sake of Ferrari’s stock price, Sainz had his choice of every available seat on the grid. Offers from Red Bull and Mercedes were simply not acceptable to Sainz, who surely was not interested in a short-term contract,

A 3-time Grand Prix winner, Sainz has chosen a legacy team in Williams, committing to their rebuilding project.

Williams Racing is the 2nd most successful Formula 1 team of all time with 9 Constructors titles and 7 Drivers Championships. Williams had an era of utter dominance in the 1990s winning five titles in six seasons with Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill and Canada’s most successful F1 driver Jacques Villeneuve. Really hope Sainz returns the Williams name to glory!
